iAsiaWorks Hires Bill McCauley as COO; Former Senior VP, Operations at GlobalCenter Signs on with pan-Asian internet Data Center and Hosting Company

SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 8, 2000

iAsiaWorks (Nasdaq:IAWK), a leading provider of hosting services in the Asia-Pacific region, has named William R. McCauley as chief operating officer. McCauley, who ran complex Web hosting and internet operations for GlobalCenter, a Global Crossing Company, has almost 30 years of experience in developing and operating large-scale data networks, data centers and other advanced infrastructure and technology.

At iAsiaWorks, McCauley will be responsible for the aggressive roll-out of internet infrastructure, products and internal systems, including Global Engineering, Global Operations, Data Center Deployment, Systems, and Product Development. iAsiaWorks, an early mover in pan-Asian hosting and managed services, is currently constructing next-generation internet data centers in Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan.

Before being recruited by iAsiaWorks, McCauley was senior vice president and chief technical officer at Axient, a pioneer in delivering media-quality internet content. Before that, he was senior vice president, operations, at GlobalCenter, a Global Crossing Company. As Senior Director at Level 3 Communications, he was responsible for the initial deployment of Level 3's Network Operations Center.

McCauley was also with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for 20 years, where he played critical roles in the nuclear weapons test program, the Advanced Telecommunications Program, the Atomic Vapor Laser Isotope Separation Program and other programs. An electrical engineer by training, he is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

McCauley will be based at iAsiaWorks' corporate headquarters in Silicon Valley.
