Leading Knowledge Resource
Distributor Links to Customers on Ariba and Concur In
Less Than One Quarter
OrderFusion Inc., a pioneer
in e-commerce solutions for supplier enablement, today
announced that RoweCom Inc. (Nasdaq: ROWE), is using
OrderFusion's Orders of Magnitude(TM) to connect to
its customers on leading e-procurement systems. As a
leading developer and operator of Web-based solutions
that help clients purchase, manage and use knowledge
resources such as research reports, journals, books,
magazines and newspapers, RoweCom sells to Fortune 1000
customers through a growing variety of e-procurement
systems. It is using Orders of Magnitude eXchange Connect(TM)
to link to any of the leading e-procurement systems.
"Today many of our
Fortune 1000 customers purchase their products on the
Web. So, a top business priority for us was to have
the ability to quickly connect to the e-procurement
systems of our choice," said Ian Best, chief technology
officer of RoweCom. "OrderFusion provided an integrated
solution between our Web based e-commerce services using
XML to any Web-based procurement system of our clients'
choice."
Initially, RoweCom has
chosen to connect to customers who use Ariba's Commerce
Services Network and Concur's Business Advantage Purchasing
Service(TM). It also plans to link to other systems
such as Commerce One's Round Trip, Clarus and Oracle
in 2001.
eXchange Connect integrates
with e-procurement frameworks such as cXML or xCBL,
creating an effective two-way communication between
the supplier's system and the e-procurement hub. Once
connected, the supplier can easily sell on the host's
system and buyers can "punch out" or access
the supplier's Web site via the e-procurement system
in order to submit requests for proposals and purchase
products.
With Orders of Magnitude,
RoweCom is freed from connecting to e-procurement systems
and then maintaining the connectors as standards evolve,
or as individual customers select different release
levels of RoweCom's system. OrderFusion allows RoweCom
to focus on the best functionality by providing the
most information to RoweCom's system, resulting in higher
end-user satisfaction.
"RoweCom, like many
mid and large suppliers, is finding that one of the
biggest points of value in e-commerce is speed and ease
of doing business," said Tom Hennings, president
and CEO of OrderFusion. "We're pleased that through
Orders of Magnitude, they were able to begin making
sales within a month."
