MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 8, 2001

Linguateq, the leading provider of embeddable data integration software for next-generation networks, today announced that it has named Richard T. Liebhaber, a recognized telecommunications executive and networking expert, to the position of CEO. Liebhabers experience in guiding some of the worlds most well-known technology companies brings Linguateq strategic leadership for solving the interoperability challenge faced by network element manufacturers and service providers.

Liebhaber was formerly a member of MCIs office of the chairman and a member of the companys board of directors from 1992 to 1995. Liebhaber held several roles at MCI including executive vice president, chief strategy and technology officer, and was responsible for managing MCIs network infrastructure. He also led key business development efforts including the acquisition of Telecom USA, and joint ventures with Stentor, BT, and Banacci.

After retiring from MCI in 1995, Liebhaber was instrumental in formulating the Qwest Telecommunications network model and served as a member of the board of directors of Qwest Communications from the inception of the company. Liebhaber also served as a consultant to the Anschutz Company in Denver, Colorado in this effort.

Previously, Liebhaber served in various roles at IBM for 31 years. In his position as director of business policy and development, he established and chaired the joint venture that later became Prodigy.

"Linguateq removes the most critical bottleneck to realizing the benefits of next-generation networks by displacing costly, time-consuming, and inflexible hard-coded integration solutions. I wish I'd had this technology at MCI," said Dick Liebhaber. "I am excited to join a team who is providing technology that is of such importance to the future of telecommunications."

John O. May, co-founder and incumbent CEO, will become president and remain as chairman of the board of directors. "Dick is an industry veteran with clear insight into the technological drivers of the market, and it is a great honor to have him choose to work with Linguateq in this operational capacity. We are confident that his vision and leadership will accelerate our growth."
