· Reliacast and Akamai joint customer, BizNews24, is first to use Reliacast technology to control, authenticate, measure and report on webcast audiences

Reliacast, Inc., the pioneer in audience management solutions for digital content, and Akamai Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: AKAM), the leading provider of distributed application and content delivery services, today announced a strategic alliance designed to revolutionize digital content delivery through audience management. By combining their complementary technologies, Reliacast and Akamai's best-of-breed services enable a tailored audience management and content delivery offering for joint webcasting customers to control, identify, authenticate and measure audiences accessing their streamed events. BizNews24, a leading Akamai reseller for on-demand and live streaming events, will be the first joint Akamai/Reliacast customer to use the integrated solution for its enterprise clients.

"Our webcasting customers and resellers like BizNews24 stand to benefit from Reliacast's unique audience management capabilities," said George Conrades, chairman and CEO of Akamai. "Until now, it had not been possible for streaming media businesses to provide detailed audience management reporting to their enterprise clients, as well as control access to content that may be subject to geographic distribution limitations. Reliacast's Audience Manager software complements our content delivery services by bringing this first-of-its-kind value to clients who need this information in order to realize a return on their investment when streaming digital content."

Reliacast's Audience Manager technology enables content providers to maximize their return on investment by giving them access to real-time reports about who is watching their media-rich events and insight into how they are reacting to specific content. Akamai's EdgeScape geo-location service provides superior levels of content control and customization for customers, and is continually enhanced through Akamai's relationship with more than 820 network partners. By integrating Akamai's EdgeScape service, Reliacast will offer enhanced geographic containment capabilities that will allow content providers to more effectively reach targeted markets and manage distribution rights restrictions by being able to pinpoint the geographic location of end users.

"The Reliacast/Akamai alliance is 'mission critical' to us at BizNews24 and to our clients," said Jay Lucas, chairman and CEO of BizNews24. "Our 'special sauce' is to achieve results for our customers by leveraging the power of rich, web-based video. Reliacast's audience management technology will provide BizNews24 and our enterprise clients, including Putnam Investments and Miller Brewing, with pinpoint insight and reporting into the audiences participating in the webcasts we produce. Our clients see these tools as the driver behind realizing and measuring a return on their investment from streaming media today."

"Our strategic alliance with Akamai is the most significant endorsement by an industry leader that audience management capabilities are a must-have for enterprises and media and entertainment companies streaming content today," said Tom Klaff, president and CEO of Reliacast. "BizNews24, with its wide array of corporate clients, is an ideal first partner and customer to benefit from the integration of Audience Manager software with the Akamai EdgeScape service. Through this integration, they will be able to pass on real-time, detailed audience information and event reports to their clients that are seeking ways to measure ROI from streaming."

Across a wide range of industries, from corporate settings to media and entertainment, audience management allows companies to realize their return on investment in content delivery for both internal and external audiences. Reliacast's audience management technology provides enterprises the ability to control and measure audience attendance for advanced digital content applications such as distance learning, corporate communications, product launches and corporate training. With the help of Audience Manager, media and entertainment companies can create new business models around pay-per-view events and advanced audience demographic reporting, and marketers and advertisers can obtain comprehensive audience metrics and deploy targeted advertising and promotions.

"The use of digital content by businesses, from enterprises to media and entertainment companies, is becoming an increasingly popular medium to communicate with both internal and external audiences," stated Michael Hoch, senior analyst with Aberdeen Group. "A key delivery element -- particularly for streaming and rich media -- is the ability to know who the audience is, and understand the audience's behavior. This element has been noticeably absent from most current content delivery value chains. The strategic alliance between Reliacast and Akamai fills this void for businesses by enabling them to determine where their content is going, who is interacting with it and how those end-users are behaving."

In addition to acquiring the rights to integrate the Audience Manager software with Akamai's EdgeScape service, Reliacast has been appointed as a Premier Alliance Provider in Akamai's Alliance Channel Program. Reliacast joins a number of other leading Web developers, system integrators and digital media companies that are committed to delivering world-class content delivery solutions. As part of this program, Reliacast has been selected as a premier audience management provider in Akamai's Streaming Resource Center, an in-house program that assists Akamai's webcasting customers in fulfilling all of their streaming media needs.
