Herndon, VA
Reliacast, Inc., the leader
in audience management and measurement solutions for
streaming media communications, announced today the
appointment of Ranjit Singh as President and Chief Executive
Officer. Mr. Singh also joins the company's Board of
Directors. Mr. Singh brings more than two decades of
experience in technology to Reliacast and is responsible
for leading the company's transition from start-up to
profitability.
Most recently Mr. Singh
was President and Chief Operating Officer of digital
rights management pioneer ContentGuard, Inc., a joint
venture of Xerox Corp. (NYSE: XRX) and Microsoft Corp.
(Nasdaq: MSFT). While at ContentGuard he commercialized
technology first invented at Xerox's Palo Alto Research
Center (PARC), and was instrumental in establishing
an industry standard language (XrML™) for interoperability
in digital rights.
"Ranjit brings a rare
combination of seasoned leadership, industry knowledge
and market savvy," remarked Nick Troiano, Principal
of SCP Private Equity Partners II, a lead investor in
Reliacast. "We are delighted that he has chosen
to join the Reliacast team and expand upon the foundation
built by co-founders Tom Klaff and James McNabb."
Today, Reliacast is a fully
funded business dedicated to the widespread adoption
of the company's patent-pending Audience Manager™
technology. Audience Manager enables organizations to
control access, secure content, and measure audience
participation while streaming rich media content over
the internet.."The appointment of Ranjit Singh
illustrates Reliacast's on-going commitment to building
the tools that can enhance the return on investment
that can come from deploying streaming media,"
said Steve Vonder Haar, Director of the Media and Entertainment
Strategies practice of the Yankee Group. "Transitioning
from his high-profile role in shaping the digital rights
management sector, Ranjit now is in position to play
a significant role in promoting the applications that
can help make streaming more commonplace in corporate
America."
Mr. Singh showed entrepreneurial
zeal early in his career, co-founding and growing a
successful start-up venture in packet switching. Over
3 years he took the company from 2 people to 125 with
profitable revenues in excess of $25 million, then sold
the company to Plantronics, Inc. (NYSE: PLT). After
this success he held executive leadership positions
of increasing responsibility at Data General, Citibank
and Xerox, culminating in the launch of ContentGuard.
"While evangelizing
digital rights management, I experienced, first-hand,
organizations embracing webcasting, whether communicating
to employees or constituents, complying with regulations
or repurposing content for profit," said Singh.
"Webcasting will be an integral part of business
communications strategy and Reliacast is well positioned
to capitalize on this opportunity. I look forward to
applying my cumulative experiences to build a great
and enduring company meeting these needs."
