Creates Global Leader in Search Marketing
Scottsdale, AZ
- February 12, 2007 — iCrossing, a digital
marketing agency committed to people's desire to find,
announced today that it has acquired the U.K.-based
search marketing agency, Spannerworks. The acquisition
leverages iCrossing's and Spannerworks' respective
leadership in North America and Europe to establish a
new international footprint for both companies.
Spannerworks,
headquartered in Brighton, England, provides natural and
paid search marketing services to a number of Fortune
Global 500 companies including BT, TUI, Sandard Life
Assurance, HBOS plc, and Zurich Financial
Services. The Spannerworks brand will remain in
place and will continue to be led by Arjo Ghosh, CEO of
Spannerworks. Ghosh will report to Don Scales,
president and COO, iCrossing.
Spannerworks' leading
natural search, social media and innovative search
crises communications offerings enhance iCrossing's
ability to provide its clients - which include The
Coca-Cola Company, LEGO, and General Motors - with
holistic digital marketing solutions. The deal
brings iCrossing's employee headcount to 350.
iCrossing plans to expand its U.K. presence with the
additional of a Spannerworks office location in London
this spring.

marketing strategies and programs that influence
consumer behavior, improve brand visibility and deliver
quantifiable results," said Jeffrey Herzog, founder
and CEO of iCrossing. "The strengths of both
companies will be leveraged in the U.S. and Europe to
deliver to our clients unmatched global media strategies
in the digital space."
The company also
announced it had closed an additional $18 million of
funding to fuel future acquisition and growth
opportunities. The funding was led by Oak
Investment Partners, RRE Ventures and StarVest Partners,
L.P. To date, iCrossing has secured over $50
million as part of its new media strategy.
iCrossing is on a strong
growth trajectory. In November of 2006, iCrossing
acquired NewGate Internet, a Bay Area-based search
marketing firm with a strong presence in the retail
space. The company also more than doubled its
number of employees in the past year and opened new
offices in Atlanta and Dallas.
