July 31, 2007 – iCrossing, a closely
held digital marketing company based in
Scottsdale
,
Ariz., announced yesterday its acquisition of Web-development
firm Proxicom. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
iCrossing,
founded in 1998 as a search marketing agency, works with
clients such as Travelocity, Coca-Cola, General Motors,
and Office Depot. Proxicom builds web sites for
companies including Toyota Motor, Chevron and DuPont.
iCrossing plans to combine Proxicom’s Web-development
skills with its own search-marketing background to help
clients develop Web sites that can attract more people.
“Anybody can paint a pretty picture or
build a pretty Web site… what we are talking about as
a company is what we can perform through these pretty
pictures,” says Jeffery Herzog, iCrossing’s founder
and chief executive. The combined company will employ
550.
The news follows an
announcement last week that iCrossing received a $62
million investment led by Goldman Sachs and Oak
Investment Partners to fund the company’s acquisition
and growth strategy.
